Spreadsheets

Spreadsheets are a wonderful way to expand on your current accounting systems. Typical accounting systems provide actual numbers - either on an accrual or cash basis. They are not set up to allow you to create "what if" scenarios or to forecast income needs if your product/crop is seasonal in that you sell it but might not receive payment within 30 days.

Below are examples of Excel spreadsheets (ver 97-2003) that were created for a client that has multiple companies - some on an accrual basis and some on a cash basis. Because of that they are unable to combine the information into one report through their accounting program.

These spreadsheets could easily be adapted for different types of companies or needs. A lot of the cells are set up to auto-calculate so you'll want to check before entering numbers.

These examples are difficult to explain via the website so if you have questions please call or email me. Various information has been changed to provide privacy for the company that these were created for. The numbers are just some that were plugged into the spreadsheet for example purposes and to show how the multiple tabs are connected.

Actuals - this spreadsheet combines the month end Trial Balance information from the cash and accrual basis companies into one spreadsheet. Where is says "#REF" is because the additional spreadsheets this information automatically pulls from have been deleted.

Forecasted Income Requirements - this spreadsheet was designed to allow the company to forecast their income needs based on the current debt and expected income a month at a time. They could move the income around to different dates to see how that would affect cash flow. The "Current Expenses" line was set up to tie into another spreadsheet to reduce the amount of data that would need to be added. The secondary spreadsheet is not included with this example.

I have created very detailed spreadsheets to analyze crop production, income vs. debt, commissions payable, etc.
